Blogger

Hey hey vegan foodies....now that Blogger is out of beta, they're pushing us to upgrade. If I upgrade my own blog, it will automatically upgrade the cookalong too. I don't want to do that if y'all don't want to upgrade though, because you won't be able to "create post" unless you upgrade. Also, there's a new person trying to join but it isn't working, possibly because we haven't upgraded. Are they being a bit pushy about wanting us all to upgrade?

Make sense? Thoughts? I've never typed the word "upgrade" so many times!

Nothing to do with the cookalong, or Blogger, but check out these vegan shortbreads my Mom made:

I know I haven't participated in a while, so perhaps my vote shouldn't count for much, but I think it will have to be done sooner or later, so we might as well go ahead. It doesn't really matter much to me, though, as I've already taken the plunge.

I've already upgraded, and yes, the whole thing does seem a bit pressured. It's fine with me chica.

Those shortbread cookies look dang good! :OD

I upgraded too and now can't post here. I too think it was all a bit pressured. While i have a gmail/google email account, i hate that google is doing this too!

Having said that, i would love to post, though, so i'm voting for the upgrade. Upgrade. Upgrade - just so i wrote the word a bit too, Carla!

hmmm, i don't plan to upgrade, especially since people who upgraded to beta seem really unhappy with it. and that google is trying to take over the planet, etc. and i don't really want to participate in that.

what do the upgrades mean? what are the advantages/disadvantages of upgrading (other than that they try to make you feel like you're being left out if you don't). i wish i could know without having to do it myself, first. what are all of your thoughts -- those who have upgraded?

this all said, it's your community, carla, so you should be able to upgrade your blog if that's what you want to do. i think it's thoughtful of you to ask us all, but your own personal blog shouldn't be inhibited by our preferences (i don't think).

i haven't paid any attention to this upgrading business... i don't even really know what it means.

Oh no, already some of us can't post because of this upgrade business. Sorry Vania, that rots.

I don't know much about it, but apparently there are more features in the new version. Beta means trial version, right? Trial while they work out the bugs. Google's never let me down before, I imagine the upgrade would be user-friendly.

I don't really notice any difference after upgrading. It seems the same to me, so I don't really get why it was such a big deal to upgrade. That kind of annoyed me. I have another google account that I use for my vegan group, and now I have to switch between the two on my computer all the time because when I make a post on here, it logs me out of my other account, so I no longer have easy access to that account without logging in again. That royally sux. Also, when I post a comment on here, I have to copy and paste everything after I click on "Sign in with your Google account" otherwise I totally lose the entire comment post. That sux too.

I have played around with the new blog features and for the most part, they are more user friendly. For me anyway. I like the layout and now all the icons and so forth are right there when i'm writing a post. There aren't too many changes to make it so obvious, but Blogger has gotten a face lift. I echo Michelle's points about google (though i'm happy with them, they are buying Everyone) and also that this is your blogger base, Carla. I think i found a way to log in as my old self so i think i can still post.
For me, i love gmail, and already had an account, so maybe for those of us that don't use it already, why make the switch? Of course, it is the best email account i've ever had...lots of storage, no spam, fun to use....

I wish original users and upgraded users could both have the same access to the basic service. My head and chest are filled with cold goo so I've been too tired to look into that...maybe they'll figure it out in the meantime and change it...ha ha.

I dig the upgrade, I say go for it with both blogs. I like my new upgraded blogs.

So sorry to hear about your yucky chest! Lay low and get well!
