suggestion: pakoras?
so, it's saturday, and there's no recipe yet. i would like to suggest pakoras, because i really like them but have only ever made them once, and they didn't turn out as well as i would have liked. this is a fairly random recipe, so if anybody has a better one, or an altogether different suggestion, that would be fine too.http://www.pakupaku.info/indian/pakoras.shtml

sweet mother of gawd - YES!
The interesting thing will be to see what people pair the pakoras up with...
I know there are some on here who worry about fat content... I'm pretty sure that these could be baked too. I found this mention as a link from on Jennifer Schmoo's blog:

I'll probably on this, though it sounds scrumptious. No deep fat frying permitted in this household. You'll all just have to enjoy them for me. Sigh.
maybe people could experiment with different homemade chutneys, and post their recipes?
Uh, that's "I'll probably pass on this." I think the battery in my keyboard needs replacing.
We could do something else?
hi! i don't have internet yet but i'm at a cafe and reading along. i'm definitely into this one too, though i too think i might bake em instead of deep frying them. or not. i already happen to have all the ingredients!
i'm so in love with indian food and with kitees recipes that i had to throw some props this way, even though i can't log on from here.
though i could make anything...
cheers everyone!
i adore pakoras - fried or baked! i'm in but am respectful that some of you may not be - though now i want to make me some! Thanks for both recipes, though. we could compare them.
I think the trick, if a recipe sounds good, is to find a way it to modify the recipe so that it is more suitable for your diet or tastebuds :) Even though I will be tempted to fry mine, I'll probably bake them.
Not everyone is going to be interested in every recipe - I like the idea of just throwing a different idea out there every week, and leaving it up to the members to decide if they'll participate or not.
