Broccoli Pesto - June 16-25
How about we start with
Broccoli Pesto from SPUN? Scroll down that link a bit, it's the first recipe after the nutritional info. The ingredients should be easy enough to procure, there are big bunches of basil in the farmers markets this time of year at sensible prices and the rest of the ingredients are pretty much vegan staples. It's snacky and she offers some adaptations, like dip and salad dressing. Sound good?

sounds good to me if it's good with the rest! and i just bought broccoli! and garlic!
but i'll have to buy almost everything else (including the nutritional yeast, miso, and olive oil -- staples i am completely out of!) though these are things that i've been meaning to buy for a bit...
Yay! Sounds great :) I'll get some broccoli and basil this weekend... do you think subbing the light miso with a red miso would work? I guess I can just give it a try...
I love the idea of using this on a pasta. Like whole wheat rotini.
Now, I'm a little confused. Do we post about it on our own blogs, or here, or both?
Good question...what do y'all think would work? You two already go to lots of sites daily, I guess, like wardrobe revamp. And I guess here only the person who starts the thread can post a picture and replies can only have text.
i was actually thinking of using the tiny bit of miso i have and then subbing in a little salt for the rest. so red vs. light miso seems like an easy trade (i think). though i might buy miso cause a new tub of miso would be nice...
me too re: pasta. or potato!
and, i think we post it here. i know that in my profile, there's a place now that says "new post" for this cookalong and so i would do it that way. and sign my name at the bottom or something so you know it's me. or put it in the title might be better?
if we want to post it to our blogs, too, that would also be cool, though not essential (maybe) but i like the idea of being able to go here and see everyone's version of the dish, you know? like all in one place.
and you know what carla said about replies only having text? i think, say if mishka posted hers first, i could both comment on hers and make my own post when i was ready, too, with my own pictures. know what i mean? so one of the ways we talk about cooking is through the comments, but another could be through posting, too. like, mishka could make a post: "i'm thinking of subbing red miso" or whatever.
i'm definitely excited to begin!
Okay then, good feedback!! I'm off to the farmer's market this morning for a bushel of basil.
p.s. because this is a team blog I think whoever is logged in would be the author of the post, so that wouldn't get mixed up
Pesto is made, photos have been taken and I am just waiting for the world to cool down before I make the pasta! Then, postity post!
just posted! can't wait to see yours!
mishka, i think if you wait until september to cook the pasta, the pesto might be stinky...
